[REQ] Linux on MEDION SIM 2000 (Info)
Excuse me if I write in English but my French is not so good.
Did anyone try to install a Mandrake on a Medion SIM 2000 notebook?
Does it work well?
Or is there any other distribution (Fedora, SUSE) that works better?

I think I would try SuSE 9.2 if I was you. Otherwise try to see there http://tuxmobil.org/medion.html

Anyway I agree with Swebian. You should try Suse 9.2 .

Hi!
i0ve the same laptop... sim 2000..... and i've Debian.
2 problems:
- wifi card not supported yet [PRISM isl3886] by the kernel modul prism54. Perhaps try ndiswrapper. and the little button to activate wifi not known by debian
- soundcard: no sound, but alsa see and know it.... 
i've SiD debian, xfce4.1.99rc2 [os-cillation.de package].
for the rest, all works..

Hello, i have testing the last Slackware distrib and internet don't running; idem for the last knoppix kaela live-cd.
The last mandrake (mandriva) run correctely, exept for the internal 56k modem and sound systeme. All linux distrib I have testing have the identical problemes of sound system (but perhaps it's my fault becausei'm a newby) but my prefer Linux distribution for my Sim2000 is the Mandriva
To heard sound, you should plug a heardphone or a extern speaker, because from my other distrib tested, the interne speaker should be not recognized. I promess ameliored my english, promiss. --- bon je traduit...

Salut à tous , pour avoir testé les dernières versions des distributions Linux Slackware, et Knoppix Kaela live-cd je peux au moins vous dire que sur ces deux distribs je n'ai pas réussi à avoir la connexion lan internet (j'my suis ptète pas bien pris, c'est possible mais je débute). Enfin avec la dernière distrib mandrake (Mandriva2005) j'ai eu bocoup moins de problème et pour l'instant cé la meilleure distribe que j'ai eu dans mon Sim2000, tout n'est pas nickel, le modem 56K interne semble ne pas fonctionner. Toutes les distrib que j'ai testé ont des problèmes de sons, même la Red Hat 9, également testé.
Pour entendre du son il semble qu'il faille brancher des haut parleurs ou un casque, la Mandriva n'échappe pas à la règle chez moi, mais en tous cas c'est ma préféré pour l'instant. Si quelqu'un en connais une meilleure pour les Sim 2000 et qui est sans prise de tête pour la detection matérielle, n'hésitez pas ...
